Our Community Challenges - Bryan's Personal Commitments
Continuing the Success
  • Continued reduction in crime and ensuring that resources are available to guarantee that
our city is safe, attractive and prosperous.
  • Success in dealing with gang issues and driving home the point that this is not just a
police issue but also a community issue.
  • Emphasis on all aspects of public safety including the Police Department, Code
    Enforcement and the Fire Department.
  • Better manage development to insure our community's need for fair and equitable
economic prosperity while responsibly addressing the demands of limited impact and
"smart growth."  As we consider new projects, let us also take a hard look at infill projects
and redevelopment as a response to urban sprawl.
  • Establish and encourage Public/Private Partnerships to invigorate local businesses
fighting to survive in this depressed (slowed) economy.
  • Development of a synergistic relationship with the County of Ventura to revitalize the
harbor area and recapture its “destination point” status.

The country is facing some serious economic times.  The City of Ventura is concerned about a
budget shortfall and considering cuts.  The City of Port Hueneme is anticipating a budget shortfall
this year and considering measures to offset that event.  Even the State of California is proposing
drastic budget cuts that will have an impact on all of us.  The City of Oxnard is in good financial
condition and through proper fiscal planning can remain that way.  I have thirty years of  experience
with this City and bring to the table  the knowledge, skills and abilities to develop partnerships and
relationships that will take us to the next levels of success.  We have a good start and it is up to us
as a community to continue on the path to success.
